Lucerne Students are up for the Challenge!

Lucerne students are up for the challenge. The Eco-Challenge that is. This month the grade 4/5/6 students at Lucerne are participating in a Kootenay wide Beyond Recycling Eco-Challenge, where students will try to reduce their ecological footprint (negative environmental impacts), and increase their ecological handprints (choices and actions that help the environment in a positive way). They have committed to several new actions to carry out at school or home, and will measure the benefit of doing so. Each week we will tally up points for various changes to how students use energy, water, food, and transportation. Students who have increased their eco-handprint by the greatest amount, in addition to knowing they are making a positive impact on the world, will also win prizes supplied by FortisBC and Columbia Basin Trust. Let the games begin!
