JV Humphries students investigate the History of Waste

Posted on

Ms Franke’s class of grade 3/4/5 students at JV Humphries investigated the History of Waste on December 1. The students learned how our production of waste has increased over time, not only with the exponentially more people, but our habits of producing waste. We learned that the first peoples used to produced very little waste and all their waste would easily decompose. In modern times, most of our waste does not decompose and creates issues on the landscape of how to manage this waste, and also that waste products are toxic to waterways and oceans. Students loved dressing up in costumes from each era that we discussed and the class had lots of fun watching their classmates in role plays!
