We looked at pictures of the various stages of blue jean production. We talked with a partner about environmental impacts of making jeans. Here are some of the concerns we came up with: -Cutting trees -Planting cotton -Spraying pesticides -Picking/transporting raw cotton -Toxic dyes used -Shipped long distances to sew -Sewing done by poor people in poor countries -Shipped back to stores (again using fossil fuels causing emissions) We can make a difference: -buy less -buy 2nd hand -give away our useable stuff -share clothes with others -make own clothes -buy Canadian made clothes Submitted by Carly and Grade 4/5 Class
