Debating Energy Production

Posted on

Students at Frank J. Mitchell Elementary School took several weeks to prepare for the battle of a lifetime. Arming themselves with knowledge, preparing for the fight with meticulous research, and engaging in the most cordial and polite fight, students learned the art of the debate. Each team learned about different forms of power production, whether renewable like solar or wind, or non- renewable like fossil fuels, and took a deep dive into all things good and bad about their form of power production. Students then engaged in a well-mannered debate, listening intently to each other’s positions, and then poking holes in their discourse. Through this practice students not only guided their own learning about the different forms of energy production available to us, but they also learned how to research, have a difference in opinion, and have a polite debate.
