The grade 5/6 class at St Mary’s school in Cranbrook, had an opportunity to explore the process of making recycled paper. Students ripped, blended, poured, pressed, patted and rolled to finally create some very interesting looking paper. The students were energetic and busy and worked well together. The final product will be used to create as an art project or book marks. Students remarked on the textures of the pulp and wondered about the process. Students made connections to their local Pulp mill in Skookumchuk, an hour from town. The students are looking forward to seeing how the finished product turns out when dried, so they can create some interesting art and continue the lifecycle of paper.
