Two classes at Isabella Dicken Elemtentary School have dove headfirst into the Beyond Recycling EcoChallenge. Students have been taking action to reduce the size of their footprint as well as their impact on the Earth. "It’s amazing to see what the students and their families have taken on." said Fernie’s Beyond Recycling Educator, Dawn Deydey. "Students have been turning off the lights, recycling things they never have before and tracking all their efforts." Each week the students participating are awarded prizes from some of our funders, including everything from low flow shower heads and window/door insulation to games, colorful pencils and more. At the end of the 4 week challenge, all the actions the students have taken will be used to calculate the amount of waste reduced, energy saved, water saved and greenhouse gases reduced.
