Beyond Recyling class checks out where to put which recyclables with RDCK

Posted on

Students from grade 3/4/5 at JV Humphries in Kaslo went on the annual Beyond Recycling field trip to our transfer station and the new recycling station for Kaslo and area. Megan Deas from the RDCK led the field trip, which included a stop at Kaslo Ace Building Supplies to explore which hazardous waste items can be recycled there (lightbulbs, batteries, and used paint containers). Students had a great afternoon and enjoyed the tour with Megan. Each student was given one item at the beginning of the tour and was responsible for putting each item in the appropriate recycling bin. Unfortunately the pictures from the day were accidently deleted, but when asked about the day later in the week, the students each remembered where ‘their’ item was to go to be recycled and the reason why that item is recycled as it is. Thanks to Megan and the RDCK for this day!!
