The Path of Power in Windermere

Posted on

Where does your power come from? The grade 6/7 students at Windermere Elementary can now follow their energy from the dam all the way to the outlet. Looking first at the benefits of electricity and how our lives would be different without power, the students in Mme Whittick’s class discussed the environmental impacts of both renewable and non-renewable energy sources, and how we can change our behaviour as well as use technology to reduce our impacts. Today’s highlight was undoubtably the wind, solar and hydro power demonstrations.

The students will follow up by investigating how they use energy in their homes before debating the pros and cons of different energy sources next week.
