The grade 5/6 at Adam Robertson Elementary School became architects, planners and designers of Cities of the Future. After studying our ecological footprint, the students put their minds together to come up with ways that our cities could be more sustainable. The students took recycled materials and craft supplies and built models of what our future infrastructure might look like. The cities needed to have ways to provide healthy local food, reduce energy use, minimize waste, conserve water and transport people and goods effectively and efficiently.
We took the whole afternoon to do this project, and in the end, the students had many creative, innovative solutions to building a more sustainable future!
