What is better than going on a education field trip? Biking there instead of taking the bus!! The students at Glenmerry Elementary in Trail BC jumped on their bikes and rode 13 km to visit 2 grocery stores as a part of the Beyond Recycling Good Food Field Trip. The students were ready to investigate food topics that included organic and local produce, types of plastic packaging, and process vs. homemade cookies. They were shocked and amazed to see how far some food items travelled…Rosemary from Israel, and Kiwis from Greece! The investigation also had students look at the advantages of eating seasonally and from sustainable sources. Such a great experience to learn how to make better choices to shrink our food ecological footprint. Thank you to our local community grocery stores!
