A Christmas Eco-Challenge?

Posted on

Grade 4/5 students from both Twin Rivers and Rossland Summit Schools participated in the Eco Challenge of striving to have a more sustainable Holiday Season. Focusing on choices we can make around Christmas trees, lights, gifts, and good deeds, this project took off with the opportunity to showcase these tips for their school community. Each class purchased a live potted spruce tree as their Christmas Tree for the Eco Challenge. They will then plant this tree on Earth Day around their school. The tree was decorated by LED lights, students individual pledges (on recycled or reused paper of course:), and even some natural material such as lichen! Students also came up with some awesome sustainable gift ideas, such as giving experiences, consumables, or your time as gifts. This amazing Eco Challenge display also had a pledge sign up sheet for all students, teachers, and parents to pledge their actions! Fantastic job TwinRivers and Rossland Summit students. Have a very Happy and Sustainable Holiday Season!
