This spring, Ms. B-W’s grade 4/5 class has been busy learning to become good stewards of the land. In March they participated in a Student Action Plan with the Know Your Watershed program to do a river side clean up along the Columbia River that runs close to their school. They incorporated previous learning from Beyond Recycling and did a waste inventory of the garbage they collected, looking at where the waste came from, what could have been recycling and what could be returned for a refund. They collected 58.8 kg of waste over two outings!!!
In May and June, the class participated in a mini Beyond Recycling program and went Beyond in their learning about recycling, sustainability and created their own solar updraft tunnels! Thanks for a great year together and keep up your great work!
