This week at Erickson Elementary we got to reap the harvest of our earlier work in the spring by harvesting delicious produce from the school garden! What a treat and a way to celebrate the end of the school year. The students munched lettuce, kale, spinach, radishes -even the tops of onions. We also supplemented our salads with delicious snap peas from a local organic farm. These peas were so sweet that we put aside some to go to the winning team of a Beyond Recycling quiz game.
The teams had to answer skill testing questions like: ‘What is a way to reduce your greenhouse gas emissions?’ ‘What is something you can do to protect water in the community?’ ‘Name three benefits you can get from being outside?’ etc
Even with the unusual year, we were still able to do some great learning about local and global sustainability solutions.
