Beyond Recycling students headed outside to clean up a natural area often used as an outdoor classroom. Students had spent time in this natural area during the previous Beyond Recycling class called ‘We Are Nature.’ Many students had noticed all the garbage and waste that littered the forest during a journaling session. With Earth Day soon approaching it was decided that our class would head outside to clean up the forest. Students worked hard to fill up four large bags of garbage and were surprised at the many things that people had thrown out! After the garbage clean up, students enjoyed an Earth Day film festival by watching five short films and reflecting on their messaging.
