Mme. Whittick’s students set up a recycling station in their classroom last week. The grade 6 & 7s took scrap paper and old newspaper and transformed them into colourful art supplies to be used in a future project.
After weeks of discussing our waste-filled consumer habits and all the necessary processing of our stuff, the students put their learning into action while reducing our impact on the planet. They “closed the loop” – changing the linear life cycle of an item into a loop, where the “waste” materials are re-used as something new.
Recycling is great, but creating your own recycling station and closing the loop is even better!
