The sun was out, but it was cold for the students at St. Joe’s, who braved the shade to watch a truck at the transfer station get filled with mixed waste. When we got to the Ootischenia landfill, there came that truck to dump its load – which then gets flattened by Stan’s compactor. While we were at the actual landfill for only under an hour, we noticed just how many trucks came and dumped their loads in that time – so much garbage still coming in, even though they’re doing a great job trying to keep all recyclable, reusable, and returnable stuff out of the actual landfill.
Finding 'away' (as in, where our garbage goes when we throw it 'away')
