Kootenay Orchards and St Mary's Catholic School's lesson on "Water"

Posted on

The lesson on Water was an eye opener for many students today. It offered not only great discussion about how much is actually available for 7 billion people on our planet..less than 1%, but the students had the unique opportunity to work in groups having to ration, haul and try to not waste, the allocated water given to their group. Allocation of water was dependent on the geographical availability and abundance of clean water and the political situation in their region. The students in all 3 classes, truly reflected their sense of gratitude for living in a region that has an abundance of clean and fresh water. They also recognized the importance of protecting this resource for future generations. What a powerful and important lesson!! Water is truly life!!
