Glenmerry Elementary went over and beyond and had the entire school participate!! A total of 140 students and their hot lunches were sorted. Glenmerrys hot lunch was from Subway. Mr. Gales Gr. 7 students did a great job with organizing the packaging pick up from every class. Most of the material was fiber based and there was not a lot of food waste, which made the sorting much easier. The total amount of waste diverted was an amazing 12 lbs. 4 oz! These students are planning on doing this waste diversion project for all the upcoming hot lunches over the rest of the school year. I wonder how much waste they can divert from our landfills for ALL the Hot Lunches? Stay tuned to find out! Great work Glenmerry!
