The Grade 7 class at J.L. Webster school in Warfield made their own Eco Friendly All Purpose Cleaner to celebrate the 52nd Earth Day! This project started with students learning about what Earth Day is and why we celebrate our planet on April 22. Next they explored cleaning products and looked at the ingredients with a focus on how these could potentially harm our health and our environment. Do these chemicals harm our sensitive body systems? Can the environment break down these chemicals? This amazing discussion gave the students the knowledge to choose more Eco Friendly products, and now they got to make their own! With three simple and natural ingredients, a repurposed spray bottle, and creative individual eco labels, these Beyond Recycling all-stars went to work. The finished product was a safe, natural and affordable alternative to other store bought cleaners. A great Earth Day project to promote the importance of making small changes to make positive differences for our planet!
