When students reflect about their participation in Beyond Recycling throughout the year, they usually say the debate was one of their favorite activities. So far, this was my favorite class this year. We spent last week preparing for our energy debates, and this week the debating began. Groups of 3-4 students each debated that their energy source was the best. Students representing wind, solar, tidal, fossil fuels, nuclear, hydro, geothermal and biomass batted arguments back and forth. It was an incredible debate, and so much fun. Students wanted to debate again, but we’ve got other topics to tackle and more fun to be had in future lessons.
