Beyond Recycling students in Revelstoke celebrated Earth Day at the Trashion Show hosted at Revelstoke Mountain Resort by Birch and Lace and the North Columbia Environmental Society. Students have spent the last few weeks preparing for the celebration.
Many students have created City of the Future models that were displayed at the Trashion Show. Students considered components of a communities Eco-Footprint when designing their cities constructed out of recycling. Students included solutions and creative ways to manage waste, power their city, be water stewards, transport residents and feed their population. Students also created thoughtful and effective bylaws for their communities. During the Trashion Show, one man commented that he thought ‘these students will make great leaders in the future, and hopes to vote one of these students in for mayor of Revelstoke one day!”
Some students also created Trashion show garments out of re-purposed garbage and recycling for this event. Seven of these outfits were modeled in front of a cheering crowd of Earth Day celebrators. Students were very creative in designing as well as modeling their outfits.
