Last week Mrs. Walker’s Grade 5/6 class took a trip to the Creston Landfill. We looked at where the materials are recycled, how waste is separated into categories like metal, yard waste, woody materials and garbage.

Plastic in the Ocean…
We spent more time learning about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, answering such questions as, “Where is it?”, “What is it?”, “When did it come about? Why?”, “Who is impacted?”, and finished the class with perhaps the most important question, “What, if anything, can we do about it?”
